![]() What historical accuracy? Balancing to make ships more or less equal is certainly not based on historical accuracy!Īnyhow, this game (with every new patch) is becoming more arcade like and with less resemblance to reality. But not in those kinds of battles we have now in random/clan/ranked. Maybe in some special "operations" mission, they could be useful. On the surface they would be weaker than the weakest destroyer. And below the surface they were slow, extremely slow, and with torpedoes they had no chance of hitting a warship actively engaged in evasive maneuvers. They were practically surface vessels, with the ability to briefly submerge. ![]() One direct hit from anything would destroy them on the surface, and even if not, then cripple them and make them unable to submerge. They were used exclusively, or almost exclusively, to attack enemy supply ships, and then get away as quickly as possible before any warship showed up. Sure, they could potentially have some minor chances, but they would be at an extremely sever disadvantage. Submarines were neither designed, nor suited for engaging enemy warships. ![]() Submarines in WW1 and WW2 (where almost all ships in this game hail from) were not used in pitched battles. It's not possible to just slightly toy around with some stats, for proper balance they would need to be changed so much they wouldn't have anything to do with historical submarines anymore. They would either implement submarines at least somewhat close to what they were, and in that case they would be unplayable in the styles of battles we currently have, or they had to balance them so much that they would not resemble real submarines at all. That would be an immense blow to historical accuracy. Well I hope it will (submarine) - it would give such a big immersion in game and add new big good dimension in game
